We are extremely pleased to be able to offer this fantastic 1936 Bentley 4 ¼ Litre Drophead Coupé. This particular car, the Bentley Derby, has a one-off body, crafted by the well-known Parisian coachbuilder Antem. This car was expressively built to the requirements of the Greek shipping tycoon, racing driver and Bentley collector André Embericos. It was delivered to him in June 1936. A few years ago the car underwent a complete restoration and mechanical revision process by the well-known specialist Jeff Mc. Donald, multiple winner of the Pebble Beach title ‘ The best of Show’. After spending over $ 196,000. this car is in absolute concourse condition. Naturally all of this is amply backed up by the plethora of invoices. This year this Bentley took the 1st prize for the best pre-war convertible at the Techno Classica Essen! Recent work costing $ 7,000 was undertaken to keep the car in concourse condition. This Bentley has featured in many books. It featured in Micheal Ellman-Brown’s ‘The Silent Sports Car 1931-1941”, Stanley Sedgwick’s ‘ All the Pre-War Bentleys’ and Bernard L.King`s ‘The Derby Built Bentleys’. The Bentley has retained her original, matching numbers, engine. She comes with a fully documented history including build sheets, factory documents, invoices and the original owners manual. This is truly a unique car with a unique provenance, in concourse condition!
